FitzWorks Ceramics is made by artist Peter Fitzgerald, located in Northern Virginia. Peter is a full-time high school art teacher who enjoys working in the clay studio when he has time. Peter's work is beautiful and functional, and his goal is to provide people with unique art that they can enjoy using in their everyday life.
Peter has been making and selling his work in Northern Virginia for over twenty five years. He currently hosts an annual holiday season show each year with fellow artists. He does commission work on a limited basis.
Peter studied Ceramics and Art Education at Virginia Wesleyan University in the 90's. It was at VWU that he spent much of his time in the clay studio experimenting and learning about all the possibilities of clay. After college, Peter came back to Northern Virginia and rented space at Creative Clay Studios in Alexandria. His time at Creative Clay, mentored by hobbyists and career potters, was an invaluable learning experience.
FitzWorks is a family business. Over the years, Peter's wife and daughters have pitched in at times, helping in the studio, marketing, and working at the seasonal shows. Without their help and support, creating and selling the work would not be possible.
